718 PSE advice
Discussion
I have to lockdown my spec on a base 718 boxster in the next few days and have currently got PSE on the list of options. My Local dealer has tried his best to get me a base boxster or cayman to try with PSE but has not been able to source one. The only thing I have to go on are a few you tube clips, I was wondering what the thoughts are from people who have PSE on a base 718 are.
Drove a base boxster with PSE a few weekends ago and I wouldn't spec it. It changed the tone and made lots of crackles but I honestly wasn't a fan of it, preferred the tone and general noise with the PSE off. I certainly don't think you'll feel you've got value for money for the 1,500 or so that it costs.
Currently have a 981 2.7 without PSE and when the sport button is pressed there is a very small change in exhaust note. What we noticed on the 718 demo that did not have PSE was that there was quite a change in the exhaust note when the car is in sport mode. Would have been nice to have tried PSE but may save the money and leave it off the spec or spend it on some other options.
I test drove a Boxter base model without PSE but had SC it was pretty quit even in sports + mode then I tested Cayman base model with PSE and without SC I preferred the sound of PSE but just depends what your looking for iv specced PSE and SC on mine just remember one mans roar is another mans meow

Not sure where abouts you are but happy for you come and have a listen if you are in the North Midlands/South Yorks area! I have base 718 Cayman with PSE.Afraid I have nothing to compare it to as my previous Porsche didn't have PSE but I like it.

That was my feeling with the 718 Boxster I tried, but if your are into relatively early downshifts (esp. with sports chrono) it does make some pretty amazing noises when you're playing the fool into corners. Wouldn't be value for money for me, but I get the appeal for others.Liam

Has anyone driven a 718 Cayman S PDK with PSE, thoughts?
Anyone in or not too far from Berkshire and wouldn't mind giving me a demo?
Long shot I know.
Did you manage to find a test of this anywhere? I'm having that debate with myself as to whether or not this is worth it - having gone mad on the configurator i'm wondering what to cut out - this and connect plus are prime candidates at the moment aswell as dropping from carmine to GT SilverAnyone in or not too far from Berkshire and wouldn't mind giving me a demo?

I never managed to get a test drive in a car with PSE before my lock down, my local dealer did try but the 4 demo cars in the country were not local to Bristol. I decided to add it to to my spec in the end so will find out what its like in a month or so. Good choice on the GT silver.
I have taken delivery of my 718 Cayman S with PSE. In my opinion it does make the exhaust note a little richer, definitely louder and more interesting than stock. I have come from the 981 2.7 with PSE and I would say that the new car isn't as impressive as the 981 but still nice none the less. I would definitely go for it.

Well at least this way you have the choice to switch it on or not.
As Dan above said, I found the PSE added a richness to the stock note. Moreso once the engine was up to temperature.
