DETOMASO PANTERA GT5 - 1990

Two owners from new. (Last change 1995).
5.8 Windsor (Ford) engine and ZF gearbox.
This is the LAST RHD Pantera with only 8,000 miles from new, and this is the only GT5 with Sports trim.
Only 18 GT5s were produced and this is one of the most original examples in the world.
A car for the serious collector.

£57,500

Now this is exactly how one should look! it aint cheap though!

Very nice...I would buy it now for 40k, but can't see it moving north of 50k grand.

I know of this car and frankly it is very much priced on the full side.

This car has been doing the rounds for some time varying in price between the early sixties and the £57,500 it’s for sale at now. The owner has sought part exchanges against a 993 or similar which is what prompted my interest several months ago but realistically I couldn’t see it beyond £45k.

There are a couple of good quality late model Pantera’s in the owner’s club magazine and web site in the late thirties which seems to make a lot more sense to me.

Modena have also got a GT5S for sale at £50k with equally low mileage which was sold by them only about a year ago for a lot less than that but no harm in asking of course.

There is another for sale at amind bending £75k which really does beggar belief.

It seems that interest in the marque may be on the up since the factory ceased to be. Perhaps the classic market is starting to view them more favourably? Easy mechanicals of course and plenty of parts availability from across the pond helps enormously. Mind you the same can not be said of other models from De Tomaso as I am rapidly discovering!

As a final note there have been rumblings that the company may have been bought or at least approached by a British investor, now that could be interesting with TVR owned by a Russian.
