Sony speaker compatibility

I have a Sony Bdv-3100 home cinema kit and the DVD player is kaput. Will my speakers work with any other Sony home theatre Blu Ray player or isn't it as simple as that? The speakers all have moulded colour coordinated plugs which I assume is unique to Sony products.

I was hoping to replace the DVD player with the same or similar model but I'm not having much luck on eBay.

if the speakers only have a pair of wires going to them, then they are (the usual) passive types and should work with most other hifi systems, connectors notwithstanding
if you don't manage to find a suitable Sony, then any other hifi system or blu-ray player (will have watts in spec) which has an amplifier will be OK but you may need to strip wires and get 4mm banana plugs - it really depends on what's available
