2000 Clio Mk2 Ph1 Sport

Hi guys,
First post here, thought I’d make a thread on the current car.
Used to have a Golf Mk2 1.6 Driver before this which ended catastrophically badly (engine quite literally blew up). This was meant as a stop gap car, but nothing seems to go wrong with it, so I’ve stuck with it.
It’s a Renault Clio Mk2 Ph1 1.4 Sport, in black. Modest at 75bhp and 0-60 in 11.7 secs, but to be honest it feels like a little go-kart, and seeing that it’s served me well for the last 5+ years without fail, it deserves some recognition!
Just recently had it detailed, so we’ll start with some before photos:
Crusty plates and faded plastics
Eww
This needed some attention
Wheels are in good condition, they’re just stinking
Cracked plate
Faded plastics
Took the plastic sides off before I started
Then got to work re-spraying the plastics black, and tinting the fog lights yellow to give that classic french foglight look
Engine was next
Two-stage machine polished
Headlights also machined
AutoGlym HD wax
Glass was machined
Black sprayed plastics are looking good
New plates
Interior looks pretty smart
Final result
Paint work’s pretty flawless
So there we have it!
Next car will probably be a Mk2 Golf GTi but in the meantime, this has turned out to be a pretty smart car and hasn’t let me down.

Ive got one of these they are a hoot. The only issue that I've had mine is everything between the front and rear bumpers 
especially the rear exhaust mount ended up replacing it with a solid one from powerflex. Havent driven anything nearly as fun around country lanes. Mines currently in the garage on 130,000 waiting a new engine

Had one of these (W plate, 1.4S - Red in my case) from new - upgraded to the 16v 1.4 facelifted version, which was better in many ways (only parted with it a couple of years ago!) but the 8v was surprisingly nippy, great fun and power delivery (in my case at least) was far smoother than the 16v!
Great little cars - having not seen mine for 13 years and presuming it dead/ hundreds of miles away, I was presently surprised when it flashed past me on at local junction one Sunday this summer!

It's nice not to see a Phase 1 with zero rot . It looks alot cleaner than many Clios out there and TBH there is something about seeing an older but unloved car being quite so tidy and so on.
The only thing I'd have to moan about (and it's tiny TBH) was not keeping the original number plates. I'd have been tempted to have put some Meguiar's Plastic Restorer or T-Cut over them. But I do like seeing dealer plates on cars ; it gives any car a bit of history.
