Hello,

I'm new to the site and would appreciate some advice please! I'm just turning 30 and in the market for my first special car (budget c.£70k) and have come up with a shortlist, below:

Jaguar F-Type V8
Aston Martin V8 Vantage S
Aston DB9
Maserati Grancabrio
Ferrari 360

-Always wanted a Ferrari but fear running costs compared to the others would be sky high?
-Drawn to the Jag but of the lot it probably has the most depreciation to come?
-DB9 - right profile for someone my age?
-Looking at some of the other discussions people seem to favour the Maserati over the Vantage and the F-Type
-I live in London so I guess it needs to be fairly practical but not at the expense of fun!

Many thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!

Interesting question - I've got two of these and owned a third.

I've had a 360 for the past 10 years. It was always a fantasy car, but one year decided to live the dream. It was and is everything I was expecting. Very special - even 10 years later I find myself lifting the car cover just to take a look.

Almshouse it on the garage I've had lots of other interesting cars. More recently a 2008 vantage roadster (manual). On is own not a bad car, but compared to the Ferrari it was really no comparison and was, to me very disappointing. Looked awesome though.

The vantage was replaced with a V8 F-type convertible - I love it, everything I had hoped the Aston would be, but wasn't. The second best car I've owned with the 360 still sitting in first place.

I should qualify my comments b saying the I don't live in London, I'm in oxfordshirvand have open A and B roars in all directions, non at daily drivers so when I drive them it's country side roads and no city driving a all.

At the moment I can't get enough of the jag - super car performance and an amazing noise.

What about f430?
I entered this fun world a year ago and went to test drive a manual 360. Ended up buying a F1 F430. It felt like a better choice for me as I too had a concern of running costs.
My dad has a v8 and my brother a R8. Neither feel as exhilarating as the Ferrari. For me there was never another option.
I'm now looking for a 4 seater special car and looking towards the gran cabrio.
I too am Oxfordshire so perhaps slightly less likely to get keyed parked on the street!
But in case you only ever buy one super car...make sure it's the ferrari!!!

Thanks you both very much and sorry for taking so long to reply! I went for the 360 in the end and have loved every minute of ownership! A real dream come true. I've got the bug now..thinking of adding a 355 or Testarossa to the collection next.
Thanks again for your help.
