Looking to purchase a Chimaera 450 - first TVR!
Discussion
Hi all,
I have recently just sold an XKR and am looking to purchase a 450 Chimaera......it will be my first TVR!
I am keeping an eye on Fernhurst (who just taken a deposit on a lovely red 450 which I was looking to view, gutted I missed out) and also Kerridges stock but wondering if anybody else had any recommendations?
Looking for one in imperial blue or rosso pearl with a cream interior and wooden dash......not toooooo much to ask is it!?

So few cars were produced and to owners personal preference I can imagine it's not easy to get one in the colour scheme of your choice.
I'd say the interior is one of the easier things to replace, I'd concentrate on getting a good car mechanically unless you like to tinker
Or be very patient, giving your particulars to the usual Tvr dealers etc might speed up your search.
I looked at a few Chims before finding my car, only when I went to see the second one that was very bright purple did I even consider the colour as that important.
I then carried on looking and one came up that reminded me of the colour of a very special car our family owned many years before, I bought it regardless of condition, ( bad mistake) but I don't regret it for a second.
450, good choice;)

I've owned my 450 Mk3 for about six weeks now.
I'd suggest taking your time, there are plenty for sale with lots of buying advice available.
I wasn't that bothered about the colour, condition and proof of maintenance was far more important.
I did more miles in the first two weeks that it had done in the previous four years! The sound is so addictive!
Time for a gratuitous photo perhaps?

It's never good to do so few miles in these cars, it's a form of slow death. I'd suggest taking your time, there are plenty for sale with lots of buying advice available.

I'm sure you've been breathing life into yours TR4man, it's the only car I know that you don't need a stereo and the sound track is still the best.
Lovely looking car, the late ones are very special.

As TR4 man says look past the shiny paint work and clean interior. Get the dealer to put the car up on a ramp, get a good torch, a pair of gloves and a plastic spatular if you need to scrap the black nasty waxoyl off the chassis and mechanicals. If the whole chassis is covered in it then it's probably hiding all the rust and holes you can't see and a big repair bill which will be 10,000 P!us, you have been warned I wasn't that bothered about the colour, condition and proof of maintenance was far more important.

I was told the TVR world is a full of friendly folk willing to help/advise and it certainly seems that way!
OP, if you are free on December 10th we have a PistonHeads Essex meeting that day out in Bicknacre at the White Elm garden centre. It is a regular monthly get together of a whole mix of cars and people and if the weather is dry there is usually at least 3 TVR's in the group. I'll be there in my 450 if the roads are dry and you are welcome to have a look over it and a trip out in the passenger seat if that helps
