I went to a talk by the Chief Exec and one of the scientists involved in Antibiotic Research UK this week
It is a small charity, started by scientists concerned about the lack of development of new anti microbials in recent years and the increasing prevalence of resistant bacteria
Quite interesting and seemingly well intentioned and well thought out plans for a small organisation. Its Research focus is on antibiotic resistance breakers: looking at existing drugs that might have a use in suppressing the resistance mechanisms of resistant bacteria sufficiently that an antibiotic can do its stuff.
Some interesting stuff discussed.
It is certainly an area that seems to need a bit of work to be done
