RAF museum - Cosford or London?

Apparently they have 2 sites - if you only have time to visit one, which is best? Cosford is slightly closer, but could get to London easily if thats got considerably more aircraft to see.

Cosford is superb with a large part of the new section dedicated to the Cold War. Mind you I'm only 30 mins away. Have been to Duxford for a car meet but didn't spend a great deal of time in the museum.

Cosford is likely to have much more space. It's also in Gods chosen county But when you are done looking at the London one, there is loads of other things to do.

They are packed in tight at Hendon in some hangars but there are aircraft there you won't see anywhere else.

Go to both.

I'd say both. For me, I think Cosford is now the better of the two - but that's as much down to the unique aircraft they have on display there.

Hendon is going to undergo a massive facelift over the next couple of years so should be a lot different by 2018.

God wouldn't chose any county that close to Birmingham. You know full well Gods Own County is Yorkshire.

I have t been to Hendon for a long while but Cosford is excellent.

The Cold War museum is good but the best bit is the experimental aircraft section - Fairy Delta 2, the EAP, TSR2, the prone cockpit meteor etc etc.

I went to Hendon a couple of weeks ago.
Really enjoyed it, but the Battle of Britain hangar was closed.
Still 3 open, tho.

The Sunderland will be staying in the same place. The old BoB building is being rebuilt around it.

Done both. I do like Hendon a lot but Cosford felt more exciting to me. You're not going to see a TSR-2 anywhere else.

Yes you are - Duxford.

(and substantial TSR 2 bits and pieces at Brooklands).

I doubt it now.

Brooklands has a forward fuselage section that was used for temperature tests. It was never part of a full airframe.

It was loaned to Fanbrough College of Technology for a while and sat in their car park for a few months. It was also on display at the Brooklands Museum Pavillion at the 2016 Farnborough Air Show.

Ditto but I preferred London due to the extra WW1 content.

Cosford without a doubt - you won't regret it.

The cold war hanger is stunning, the others are merely brilliant!

the thing about cosford is when you get to the end.... then realise there is a whole other hanger you missed as its not inline with the others.

Not been to Hendon in a long time, but its on my list. If you are doing the daan sarf museums, include the science museum too. And the de havilland museum just off the M25
