I've decided to scratch an itch i've had since I was 9 years old (i was a member of the Aston Martin Young Supporter's Club) - I even persuaded my dad to take me to Newport Pagnell to see them being built, I've purchased a 2008, 17k DB9 with sport pack in tungsten/Obsidian. OMGoodness, what a car! I've had numerous Porsche 911's which may be faster and handle better, but that V12? It's the WAY it delivers the power. Simply wonderful.

And the button - the anticipation when you hear the 2 second whirrr of the starter motor, and then the rasp of the exhaust.

Totally intoxicating.

Warm welcome James and congratulations on the purchase. There's a very simple rule on here, pictures or it never happened wink

This place is a great source of info so use it well, accepting that like any other forum, there are some oddballs. But we like them.

Welcome, and what a beauty (though given it is the exact same colour combo as mine I would say that)!

I've had my share of 911's too and agree that whilst they are technically the better car (well, my Turbo certainly was) they can never come close to owning an Aston Martin.

You will be very surprised that people will let you out at junctions now too!

Congratulations and love the look of the sorts pack alloys on the 9. Have fun and enjoy.

Tungsten is a great colour and whilst there may not be much sun about at the moment when it does shine your car will look totally different - in a good way!!

Well done. Dragging your Dad to NP is true dedication (although I'm sure he enjoyed it as well).

The DB9 is truly beautiful and the sports pack wheels look good.

Just finished cleaning mine today, should have taken it out for a drive really.

Well done James.
You have a car that is already a classic.

A contributor here named George, is a very particular gentleman (well he is with an F1 team, no not the driver), and he will certainly approve of your dateless registration.

Enjoy your car.

Thank you for your kind comments gentlemen - after this first weekend I have to say it is pretty spectacular. I loved my 911's - superlative engineering (apart from the worry of the ticking time bomb of the IMS and bore scoring on a 997). The feel through the steering wheels was fantastic. But they felt a little 'cheap' - the DB9 is anything but.

The Porsche is a technological masterpiece, perfected through evolution.

The Aston is simply an event.
