Hello.

I'm with Aviva at the moment and my renewal is due shortly. It's just jumped by £200. Any recommendations on here?

Thanks

I was with Aviva through a broker. The renewal I was offered this year via this route also went up considerably. I then got a quote with Aviva directly online (not through a price comparison site) and this reduced my premium significantly below what I had paid the year before. I suspect Aviva are trying to remove the middle man and therefore not offering competitive policies to brokers. Have you tried direct?

I have experienced exactly what Pete said but a few years ago so its not a new game they are playing.
I have always been keen on getting brokers to do the hard / time consuming work - Nowell and Richards are excellent especially for multi cars - Zurich , Chubb and Hiscox spring to mind as providers - have only used the first 2 and Zurich are cheaper for comparative cover.

I have my Aston insured through Mercedes Benz insurance.....it's actually underwritten by Aviva.....I think it was the best priced policy when I renewed. Need to have a tracker though.....

If you need track day insurance, then Locktons include cover. Otherwise Admiral provide very competitive quotes.

You have encountered the illogical world of insurance.
Next time, try doing what Pete has suggested.
Go to the Aviva website for your quotation.
I don't think they require a tracker.

Classicline are well worth a chat, they will do track cover if required.

Just checked back but £537 for 2009 V12 Vantage, 3000 miles, £80k agreed value and no tracker.

I always churn. Thanks s Year is no different. Had the Vantage and my wife's Porsche on Admiral multi car but this year it's cheaper to insure the Vantage with Aviva and the Porsche with Sheila's Wheels.

See what next year brings I can't understand the insurance industry where loyalty counts for nothing (and actually costs you money).

Thanks for that guys.

A quote with Admiral is coming in cheaper. Has anyone got any recommendations whether their service the same or worse than Aviva?

Admiral is the Ryan Air of insurance. No approved franchise repairs allowed, nasty small print gotchas , penny pinching etc. Really, just don't or at least read all the small print.

Locktons can be great.

For the last 10 years either been with Chaucer or Zurich. Broker is Pace Ward http://www.paceward.com/

Thanks to getting 10 years older and moving from SE to NE Midlands 9 year ago, my insurance on my Vantage down from £1100 to £300 in recent years, back up to £400 now with a new Roadster, thats twice the value of my older Vantage.

Now call AVIVA and see if they will match. My cars are all with AVIVA. wink

A fellow PHer/client has just had to refer his claim with Admiral to the ombudsmen because they refuse to budge on their ridiculous offer for his stolen SQ5

Just been through the process of renewing our car insurance on the everyday cars. Currently with Aviva and it had jumped about 20% on last year so compared with Direct Line and Admiral. Direct line same price and didn't really want to go back to Admiral because not keen on their practices. Only by accident (here on PH) did I find out that if you do not advise them of optional extras they are not covered. Anyway wasn't an issue this time as they were not competitive. Their quote for the RRS was eye watering by comparison.

Zurich offered better cover at a lower price than Aviva on my renewal this year but of course all of our circumstances are different.

I realise Admiral can be very cheap - until the renewal quote - but whilst I am happy to insure my childrens cars with them
I would never insure something precious or expensive with them.
It's not until you need to claim do u actually find out what value for money can mean.

My money is with Aviva. 4 car policy over several years. Always been pleased with the service. Especially at claim time.
Was able to negotiate the pay out on my sons write off. And when I needed a new Carbon splitter on my V12V it was handled very easily with one phone call. Yes I need a tracker for theft cover which adds £225. But premium is £520 garaged on 6k miles. I tried Locktons twice but found their price almost twice as much. With the track day cover having an excess of 10% about £9200 which I thought was a bit steep I decided to stay with the proven Aviva service.
Don't scrimp on insuring your pride and joy. I agree with the comment above about its whenever you actually claim when you find out the true value of your insurance.
At renewal I always have a quick look at other prices then phone Aviva direct and ask for a loyalty discount. Got 10% this October which brought it just under last years price.

Ok, renewed with Aviva.

Original quote for 2 cars. A3 Saloon and 2015 Vanquish was £1008.03. Negotiated it down to £911. Advisor also offered a discount for having another policy. Signed up for cheap as chips £40 European Travel Insurance policy. This reduced the car insurance down to £768.02 including online renewal discount.

Thanks for your help guys.
