Sold a digital code for an xbox game via flea bay - emailed the code to the buyers PayPal email address.
A couple of weeks go by and I get an email from PayPal saying the transaction is being disputed by the finance company. I get asked to present evidence that I sent the goods, to which I attached the various emails with the code on etc. etc.
Anyhow, PayPal take 28 days with no further communication to me except today. I get told that they are reversing the transaction so I'm now out of pocket by £30...and on top of that they are going to charge ME a further £14 because there has been a chargeback,
So someone fraudulently buys my item, I lose out on both the item value but then another £14 on top.
I mean WTF!!!!!!

I asked on here in the gaming section the very same question regarding where to sell a an Xbox game download code.
Was told not to trust eBay and use facebook selling pages which I did.
I did some research and there's 100's of people being scammed because emailing the code gives you zero comeback.
You must post it recorded delivery I found out.

This exact thing happened to me last month. PayPal are now threatening me with bailiffs, and to top it all off eBay charged me selling fees in addition to me losing the item and money. Obviously I have the buyer's details - full name, address, phone number, plus photographs from Facebook. My best idea is to put up a few flyers in his local area saying "this man is a sex offender", and let the locals do the rest.

Seems reasonable!Mercury00 said:

Let's be clear. Ebay and any debt collectors have no powers whatsoever. Transcom will attempt to call you repeatedly, send you letters and threaten visits. 99% of the time they will never call in person as this is too expensive. Write them one cease and desist letter under The Protection From Harassment Act and withdraw any implied right to call your telephones (PM me if you need a template). They will still waste money on letters.Only once they issue County Court Summons will you need to worry, and they would have to obtain judgement.
There are arguments going on that eBay are complicit in allowing these scams to occur. If you want revenge then make a complaint to eBay, exhaust the Complaints procedure and then make a final complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service. It's very unlikely you will win but it will cost eBay the thick end of £600 whether your complaint is upheld or not.
Finally, one of the best way to get revenge is if you have the persons name, address and contact numbers. Google PPI callback and fill in thei details with multiple companies. Google is your friend. Find who the person works for. Sometimes it's very easy. If it's a local company and you are a powerfully built company director then withdraw work or charge them more.

Why did you not follow the rules?
if you had Mailed the code to the buyers address using a trackable delivery service then you wouldn't be out of pocket.
I did send it via signed for delivery, I gave the record of the buyer's signature and name given. I still lost the case.if you had Mailed the code to the buyers address using a trackable delivery service then you wouldn't be out of pocket.

There you go OP - this chap is saying he'll guarantee you'll get no bother & if you do he'll pay.
Very selective quoting. You should be a politician.
I did qualify by saying "Only once they issue County Court Summons will you need to worry, and they would have to obtain judgement."

I have heard quite a few instances of them suing over the years. I think these days they tend to just issue a "lifetime" ban on using their services (very effectively policed).Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
