Sports exhaust on GTS
Discussion
Hi All
I sat in boxster GTS today and tried the sports exhaust button. It sounded exactly the same on tick over with the button on or off. Its the second when I've sat in with a view to buying and I have a feeling the last one did sound different when I pushed the button. Has this second GTS got a duffer PSE? What is the normal behaviour? Any BGTS CGTS owners out there?
Also PTV, X73, who'd have em?

Not a huge difference in tickover with PSE on or off, more noticeable on the move in my experience.
Mine has PTV and I have felt it kick in a couple of times. I specced it from new and would again, probably not a deal breaker on a used car though.
X73 is a backwards step IMHO, it was a cheaper option than PASM and possibly only 'better' if the car lives on a track. PASM in a 981 is superb and by far the better choice for the road and all round usability. YMMV etc etc.

night and day difference between sports exhaust vs non sports once rolling and pulling away from stationary. I had a CGTS with PASM and now have a spyder which has the x73, and I can defo tell you that there is massive difference on the bumpy roads in the bis smoke. If I was to use these cars as a daily, I would be speccing the PASM in a heartbeat. the x73 comes into its own above 40mph.
I'd say the different is noticeable in regards to the PSE, more so when reversing into a enclosed space like a garage etc.. However, when you are outside its very subtle but you are able to tell with a small increase in volume.
As for PASM vs X73 its all a matter of personal taste but I have X73 on mine along with PTV, PDK, PCCB and Buckets + more as for my personal tastes it makes the car feel much more alive.

Like others have said, the PSE ON/OFF makes little difference at idle, which is fine. Once moved off, it makes a difference nearly all the time.
Above 4500rpm, you get default ON anyway.
I have PTV and X73 in my man-box CGTS.
The PTV is amazing for getting the nose into an apex! Fast direction changes are really pleasing
The LSD element is less used on normal road drives I guess.
The X73 is really enjoyable. So good at soaking up imperfections and normal the Britishness of our roads. (I never really drive in town though)
Even my Mum thought it was a comfortable ride
I guess ithink it's more taught and connecting. Just feels like well resolved good suspension to me

I have a Boxster GTS with PASM, there's not a single thing I'd change, I test drove both suspensions on track at silverstone and on the road, and the lowered sports suspension was just too crashy for me on our crappy roads, also made the steering very heavy when parking, and the car really doesn't need to be any lower than it is. I already have issues with speed bumps and driveways scraping as it is! I don't even use the stiffer suspension option on the PASM, the normal is just right IMO.
Sports exhaust is standard in the GTS, so if you are looking at one they all have it I believe, and it sounds better than an S with the same option, they've done something special with it, it's louder and has lots more pops and bangs (which I know some people on here don't like, I love it), it's one of the best Porsche I've ever heard, espevially in tunnels, it's like an F1 car going through the Monaco tunnel. You get a better experience too with the roof down.
Oh and to hear it, just put it in sport mode and blip the throttle a few times, you'll hear the difference then!
