Budget Headphones

Budget c. £50 - gift for child.
I want to buy something half decent to plug into computer - main use video editing.
Any suggestions??

I was going to suggest audi technica which are well known for providing the user a lot per £.

I paid 85 for these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00B0FR2QO/ref... in 2014, for some reason, they're now 130 and the seller I bought them from is trying to sell them for 200.

Looks like id get my money back if I were to re-sell.

I was looking fore on ear rather than in-ear. I've seen some nice looking Sony stuff for £35-ish & some sennheisers for £50-ish. Not looking for audiophile grade/cost bracket, but something half decent for computer use.

I'd look into the Creative range at that price. I have some £30 headphones in at work and they are more punchy, louder and give better sound quality than a much more expensive pair of sennheisers I used to own. Not sure where would have them to test mind you.

I hear that Koss Porta Pros are pretty hard to beat for sub £50.

+1 for Audio-Technica, I bought the SonicFuel set for my son a year ago, and they sound pretty good, excellent value for money. They currently go for £26 on Amazon, so if you're spending double that on the same brand you'd definitely end up with something worthwhile.

I tried a pair of Psyc Wave 1 headphones a few days back. Thought they were amazing for the £18 they cost.

Beyerdynamic DT231pro is certainly worth a listen IMHO @ £30 there is nothing better.

I've had a pair of these for a while now. Absolutely brilliant, better than the AKGs they they replaced, IMO, and they were >£200

funny, I was just looking for my old topic on headphones to post an update..

I was looking for advice on some headphones to replace my rather old Seinheizer HD25's (I think I lost them) they were amazing tbh as many, many reviews will say, I got them as a gift a long time ago but didn't want to pay out the c.£120.00 they are now.

My budget was also in the c.£50.00 area and many people suggested the AKG Y50s which certainly seem to get a big thumbs up, but then I started thinking about how much I actually use headphones, which isn't often, and would be playing from a phone (in the gym) or laptop, not exactly audiophile equipment, so is it even worth spending £60.00.....?

In the end, after a bit more searching and reading many reviews I ended up spending £16.00 with delivery to Sweden on a pair of these Sonys and for the price I really can't fault them, it's been a while since I last used my Sennheizers so it's difficult to do a fair comparison, I know the Senns did sound better, but £100 better?

At some point I am going to go and listen to some of these other headphones in the £60.00+ area and see if they do justify the extra price, and keep the cheap Sonys as a spare.

If you're looking for some headphones for a youngster who's going to use them for gaming or just on a computer then I would give these serious consideration, they are well built and dont look or feel cheap.

Do they need a microphone?

I bought a pair of these today from one of my suppliers. They were just for general music so wasn't expecting great things, but they are really, really good for the money! I bought them to replace a pair of Beats By Dre Active Noise Cancelling as I was fed up of changing batteries. To my ears they are just as good.

I've had these on all evening, listening to various types of music and also watched The Grand Tour..

They are really good, very comfortable - barely noticeable to be honest despite their size. Sound wise I prefer them to the Beats By DRE Studio NC. The bass is really good, highs are good, mids are a little flat but I'm no audiophile! I'm most impressed by the bass to be honest, it's not muddy like other cheap headphones. The cable is really long and it doesn't detach so I wouldn't recommend them if you want to take them out and about all the time... they are perfect for me as I use them at home and need a long cable. All in all don't think you can go wrong for £30!

Id really recommend these - Sony MDR-XB950AP
Bought for my son and I've borrowed them ever since. Very comfortable and sound good, although marketed as Deep Bass i haven't found them to be too heavy, after a short while of running in the sound changed quite a bit and its just right now. Way better than Sennheisers Ive had which have all broke. These Sonys have taken a bit of abuse with no effect.
