Selling a watch on eBay, should I avoid Paypal?
Discussion
I currently have an IWC Portuguese for sale on eBay and have had an enquiry from Finland asking if I would post there and if Paypal was acceptable?
I specifically stated in my advert, cash or bank transfer on collection, but I can obviously reason that:
a. The exchange rate is favourable for European buyers at the moment
b. He would want protection from the sale being a distance buyer
I'm scared stiff of receiving funds, sending the watch and then him lodging a dispute and getting the funds back - are my concerns justified?
Any advice/opinion from people who have sold watches internationally would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't personally as that crap goes on all the time on eBay. Risky doing it for a few hundred quid, never mind what your watch is worth.I would accept paypal but only as a "friends and family" transfer for the reason you mention of a post sale complaint and also no fee deducted for you.
Paypal for international payments also is terrible exchange rate and higher fees.
Suggest Transferwise.com to him, he'll get a better exchange rate.

The flipside of that is that as a buyer, I would tell anyone asking for payment like this to FRO as it would open me up to greater risk and cost.If you're selling high value, get a video of the product, you packaging it and a photo at the post office with weight included. PP do side with the buyer alot, but only against sellers with no proof. If you have a valuation and COA for the product as well as all this, the evidence is in your favour.
Personally I understand the hassle of PP sometimes as a seller, but as a genuine buyer, I like the protection it offers me. Double edged sword.
