100% reliable Chimaera to Tuscan shall I do it?
Discussion
That is the question that is burning away at me at the moment I have seen a lovely Tuscan that I want at HL Gorners & have gone through the details with Mike the only thing that is nagging at the back of my mind is the engine reliability issues. I would get a warranty with it but it only has a £2k per claim limit which I know would not cover the engine if the worse happened.
The car is a May 02 4lt in Rolex Blue & I am so tempted .
The only other thing that suprised me sitting in the car is my head was touching the roof or pillar unless I removed the cushion from the seat & I am not unusually tall (6ft) is this normal as I have lots of room in the Chim?
Any thoughts appreciated as I have got over the hardest hurdles (Persuading the Mrs) & am now only left with my own slight doubts.
Thanks
Howard.

Been there! Well Griff to Tuscan, anyway.
There's many ways of looking at it. A bit like you I didn't have a hurdle with Mrs Beano. The costs, including if something goes wrong, well it's only money. The reliability issues - well I am no longer running a TVR as an only car (as persuaded to some extent and with good reason by the PH fraternity!)
But....
What if you don't do it? What if you never know? How will you cope?
Once you're bitten by the TVR bug, that's it! I'm glad I made the move. I knew right from the start that the three most important things were history, history and history and then stop worrying about the future, because that's tomorrow.
The Griff was great, the Tuscan is great too. Different, but great and I hope I'll be enjoying it for a long time to come. Even then, I hope that the next car's a TVR, whether it's older or newer, a Wedge, an S, a Griff or whatever...........

Been there, done that! last weekend in fact.
From a reliable Chim to a Tuscan. Onwards and upwards as they say. Will I regret it? Don't know yet ask me again this time next year.
Am I regretting it at the moment NO!.
Like Ron, I'm glad I made the move.

If you get a £2K limit RAC Warranty thrown in with the deal, this will not cover any part of any re-build claim.
"Wear & tear, sir. Our contribution towards the cost will be zero"

Pick up the Tuscan tomorrow see www.hlgornertvr.co.uk/AllVehiclesview.asp?key=1768 for details can't wait!!

...they all do that, Sir! Very comfy once you take the cushion out, you're sitting in the seat quite snuggly.
acht away wif ya!!! stop having the seat upright like some old woman, and get the back down a bit. Your suppose to lie down in a sports car! Once you adopt the patented Powerlord driving position you can wear a top hat in there.

Congrats - she looks lovely!
Well done.
3 weeks ago, did exactly the same as Big Al and went from 100% reliable Chimaera to a Tuscan (late 2002).
Can't vouch for the reliability side of life yet but chuffed to bits so far and no regrets. Still trying to get used to the "bag of nails" engine noises but guess the "Speed 6 paranoia" will abate soon.
Re head room,
did the dealer leave a kiddie seat in? I am 6'3" tall and my head is no-where near the headlining.

Nah, it won't. Every time you hear a slightly different sound from the front of the car, a wave of sickness will flow across you for a second as your brain runs through the possibilities of cost, time off the road, hassle, etc. It's part of the charm of Tuscan ownership!

Been out today roof down, sunshine
No regrets at the moment, and if there are to be any, I'll take them in my stride!
