DIY brake disc & pad change with OPC warranty?
Discussion
Afternoon chaps.
As the title says.....Can you do it? Will they know if you have done it? If so how?
Basically my discs are on their way out (probably fine for ages but I'm OCD). I'd like to change them myself, like I do with all my cars.
Now my question is, if I used proper Porsche parts. Would the OPC ever know, either when renewing the warranty or if I ever need warranty work done. I'd hate to do it, to then find out they have a way of finding out, and then having issues with the warranty down the line...
Any advice would be great. Ideally from someone who works at Porsche or a specialist and knows for sure rather than guessing
Cheers

I have done this; it's an easy DIY. The 'Porsche' factory fit pads were the same as the Pagid pads I obtained from Euro Car Parts - every marking and number the same. Neither the discs I removed or the discs I fitted were marked in any way that would differentiate them as Porsche or non Porsche. As the title says.....Can you do it? In other words, you'll pay a lot extra for a cardboard box . . .
However, to meet the warranty terms you should in theory use the branded parts and may need to be able to prove that you have done so.
If you change well before the warranty renewal and use the car, there's no way they will be able to tell.

While I agree with your philosophy and most of what you say, the original Porsche discs have a kite mark stamped into the hub and the same kite mark appears on the backing plate of the original pads. So they can indeed identify if the parts are Porsche original. Although, it's likely that they will only look for the marks on the discs because they rarely take the wheels off during a service. In other words, you'll pay a lot extra for a cardboard box . . .

I had a service this Spring and Porsche didn't even say anything about the brakes then. So it's not as if they've told me they will need replacing soon, and will then see new parts randomly fitted.
I would buy OEM parts if possible, in the hope any markings or brand stamps would still be there.
This brings me onto another question, where to buy OEM parts? Excluding Porsche directly so I'm not paying for their very expensive boxes haha.
