Asia extreme film fans. Must see Old Boy

Got this delivered yesterday. What a top film. I can see why people like Tarantino raved about it.
In a nutshell
A guy is taken off the streets and imprissoned for 15 years. He then has 5 days to find out why.
very odd twist at the end I didnt see coming
quite violent and pretty sick in places The violence looks beleiveable. In one scene our hero is vastly outnumbered and it almost looks like he could have pulled it off. I wouldnt mess with this guy.
Great movie, posted about it a couple of months back.
Incredibly original and thought provoking, although I don't think it's for the weak of stomach or someone expecting a bog-standard asian horror. The twist at the end is certainly far more horrific than anything else i've ever seen.

Yeah the twist left me a little shocked I have to say. But What I liked about it is it all makes sense and fits in with the story. Not some contrived ending that couldnt have happened and had little relation with the rest of the film.
Thinking back I should have seen it coming but I was quite engrossed in the film and just watching to see why. Usualy film don't grab me like that and I end up trying to work out whats going on. Thi swas different.

Get your hands on "Sympathy For Mr Vengance" too, by the same director. Its the first in what is supposed to be a triolgy on the subject of vengance/revenge. Old Boy is the second, third one not made yet.
Its longer and the first half is a bit slow, feeling more like a Korean drama than anything as visceral as Old Boy. But then it kicks off, and boy does it kick off.....

had never heard of it, checked with local blockbuster & they have a few copies - so thats me sorted for tonight (the missus will be glad she's going out though!)

Don't know Pesty, wish I did. And yes its by the same director, Chan-wook Park (hoping i didn't misunderstand your post).
