I have a few websites and understand the standard 'run of the mill' host packages and features.

But one site will now need to stream audio. I can just upload the MP3 files to a folder and have the embeded audio player draw upon those - but I'm aware that my host may get a little peeved should bandwidth get hammered.

So a friend suggested looking at Amazon and their AWS stuff... looks ok but perhaps a little extreme for me. I simply need a host that will let me stick up an audio file and not mind it being streamed ad infinitum.

I don't want to go down the route of embeded player from the likes of SoundCloud et al.

Any tips or pointers!?

No idea about audio but my website uses Vimeo to stream a lot of insanely large 4K videos ad naseum for iirc a couple of hundred quid a year. Might be doable for audio too?

AWS etc are not that hard to work with once you get used to it and you can now get cpanel style control panels that help you admin it.

Surely you just pay for whatever bandwidth you use? If I was your hosting company I'd be happy if your bandwidth was getting hammered as it would mean more money in my pocket!

Yes SoundCloud is the obvious choice - it's just that the template we are using has a stunning audio player that requires that audio is self hosted.

Regarding the hosting; it's unlimited but has a fair usage agreement; in other words, NOT unlimited. And they can apparently get funny about spikes in bandwidth. So will look at some more options; perhaps Amazon.

Could you point us at the template / audio player and perhaps we can see if there is a way it could use a file from elsewhere?
