Heater fan speed controller upgrade

My fan speed control unit has gone t1ts up...not just the usual connector issue it really is broken. So got me thinking why not just replace it with a new box of tricks. One these looks a possibility.

My issue is where its from and there are a lot of inferior quality electrical goods flooding the market, you get what you pay for but would i trust this in my TVR ? These electrical items are often not checked or tested, be careful my friend.

That is a really good point. I will see what similar units I can get in UK.....maplin,RS,Farnells....but they will maybe also be from China as is the way of things these days.

I would agree with above it could be a bit rubbish. It does say it will control up to 40 Amps
so should be more than capable of running your heater motor.
Just make sure you have the appropriate fuse fitted BEFORE the module so if thing go belly up
you have some safety margin.
If it were me I would probably test it on the bench to see how hot it got with a similar load to
the heater motor on it just to be comfortable.
A similar type of circuit was used by TVR on my heater motor controller but used a PIC micro instead
to give 3 or 4 speeds on the heater fan that did however melt.

Mine stopped working as well, its only a pcb inside. Dan Taylor at Taylor Tvr swapped mine for another and sends it away to be repaired...its not that expensive.
