As I,m now in a position to consider buying my first AM
(V8V + Sports-Shift) and having read Grant Neals book cover to cover many many times. !!!
seems one of the issues regarding the car of my choice is poor cold oil performance from the gearbox ?
Many years ago (when I dabbled with Volkwagen Beetles & Formula Vee Racing Cars) I bought a Swedish registered Beetle that had a 'Oil Pre-heater' fitted into the sump drain plug, just wondered if this could be an option to consider with regards to hooking 1st & 2nd gear when the G/box is cold.
Over to you guys !!!!!
PS; Guess its less of an issue with S/Shift ????

The gearbox oil spec was changed a few years into production and virtually eliminated this issue in my old 4.3. In my latest 2012 4.7 it is still is a little noticeable from cold, but its not a big deal. Its like the first 1 or 2 shifts first thing on a cold morning are not as smooth as they should be, nothing more than that.
...nothing even worth worrying about, get the car bought and enjoy driving it

It was a minor annoyance i the first <5mins of driving.
I went for a drive last week for the first time in a few weeks and almost couldn't engage 1st gear. There had been a recent cold snap and although the car is kept in the garage, it really struggled for the first 5 minutes which made me think that I need to look into it.
I do quite like the feeling of a recalcitrant gearbox from cold. It's adds to the very mechanical feeling of the car which is part of its appeal for me.
