Anyone ever been to see one?

Are you a sceptic or a believer in what they purport to be able to do?

Serious answers would be appreciated

Total skeptic here. It's cold reading and asking questions, nothing more.

I've got plenty of bookmarks for some interesting reading on the subject:

I'm a medium. If you don't believe me, check with Ted what size t-shirt I ordered!

Thanks Raify.

What about people who reckon they are able to converse with the dead?

I am being serious by the way

I'm a skeptic who has been to see them on a number of occasions (curiosity)... and with one particular person had my scepticism well and truly rocked - more than once... feel free to email if you have specific questions Mrs Fish.

Oops...

I have a book called "Life after Life", which gives accounts of actual sessions, which can be corroborated with historical evidence. Very interesting stuff.

Most of them are cranks - you may have seen the televised Derren Brown episode where he does it prefectly, although he insists he wasn't acting as a medium.

Even thought you locked my joke thread I shall reply with 'Rubbish!'. For if it worked, we'd all know what was going to happen, take plans to modify that event, and therefore blow the theory out of the window anyway.

Simply wish-fulfilment (like religion but without the god)

Hold on, I’m getting something. My wife likes these programmes on TV (I knew she would). I think one is called Colin Fry and another guy touches antiques then talks about the items history. Can’t say that I believe in it, but they do come up with personal stuff that researchers, etc. could not find out.

I know people who have visited a clairvoyant and are convinced she was genuine.
For my part I think some so-called clairvoyants are really incredibly perceptive and may well believe they have a gift or link or whatever.

I am more interested in the 'medium' side of it rather than clairvoyancy.

I've always wanted to be a medium.

Got down to a 'large' in about '98 but other than that, nothing doing...
