Affairs that ended well - do they exist?
Discussion
A group of us were in the bar the other night putting the world to rights and all that, when the topic of affairs came up.
The general consensus – from what little knowledge we had – was that they were a terrible idea and once the genie was out the bottle it was impossible to put back in. Nobody we knew of who'd ever had an affair had gone one to not regret it.
Are there people out there who have come out the other side with no regrets?

Yes, still together with the "other woman" 27 years later, married for 25 years next MarchThe general consensus – from what little knowledge we had – was that they were a terrible idea and once the genie was out the bottle it was impossible to put back in. My grandad had an affair, he was in his 30's she was 17ish from memory, they went on to get married and were together for 30 years odd until he died. I only ever knew them together and they were perfect together.
They had a child but but got caught up in the Irish baby scandal as they were not married.

Where I used to work 20 odd years ago, there were a number of people that had affairs with work colleagues. Some of the men ended up divorcing their then wives and marrying their mistresses...and some are still with them 20 odd years later.
Whether it's a case of grass is greener, and then finds it tastes just the same or they're happier with their new spouses. I don't know.
There's a well known saying that when you marry your mistress you create a vacancy.

For all these affairs that ended well for the poster I can't but think there's some ruined people out there who have had their entire life crushed by this stuff.
I would agree in the main, however in my instance I know that my ex-wife moved back to where she lived when she was a child (market harborough area) and set up a new business for herself doing what she loved (cake making) and is pretty successful and has a new husband and a couple of kids ... so I think it worked out well really once the initial shock and heart ache subsided and settled johnwilliams77 said:

Surely, by definition, an 'affair' doesn't end well for all parties? Any deception results in pain for somebody.
Just because something results in pain deosnt mean it hasn't ended 'well'. Short term pain, long term gain!Pommygranite said:

Yes, and hopefully they will learn why it went wrong and be able to move on. My wife was very unhappy when she was with her ex, and if it wasn't me that she packed her bags for it would have been somebody else. Been together over 15 years now.Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
