My little fella (Age 5) has had Scarlet Fever for a couple of weeks. Symptom were overal quite mild; sickness, tiredness, rash, swollen glands, none pleasant but nothing that kept him in bed all day. He went to see the GP last week and has been on liquid antibiotics (Penicillin) for 4 days.

He was doing ok, went back to school on thursday / friday (he wanted to go) but tonight he's taken a bit of a nose dive. Temp has gone back up to 38.5 and he's lost all his colour. He's also complaining of stomach pains.

Have dosed him up on Nurofen which has taken the edge off, and we're continuing with the antibiotics.

Has anyone had any experince of Scarlet Fever with their kids? just wondering what to expect.
Would have thought the antibiotics would have kicked in by now.

No Scarlet Fever experience but, yes, antibiotics normally work - i.e. have worked - in two days if they are going to. It sounds like they did and this is something else.

Get proper medical advice.
