Golf GTI MK 7 or something similar with the same engine
Discussion
I'm looking at replacing my Volvo S60 D5
Golf GTI's have caught my eye along with maybe a Skoda VRs as i believe that the new generation of petrol engines can give good economy now ( Mid 30's)
I would be tempted to get it mapped, do the engines stand up well to mapping, i guess they do as the same engine is used in other models.
Also i have no experience with DSG gearboxes, i could imagine they must be great to drive but do they cost alot to maintain and are they as reliable as a manual?
thanks

I like the DSG box, got it in my Mk7 GTD and had the same in my Mk6 and Mk5 GTI. None and have ever given me any hassle but it's important to stick to the 40k interval oil changes. They suit the 2.0 engines very well. From a reliability/ running cost perspective compared to a Manual you have the advantage that the Clutch should never need replacing.
If you're after a GTI with a bit more power the Leon Cupra may be worth considering too.
