Hi,

I'm off to look at a VX220 Turbo in Accrington soon with a view to buying it. However I'd like to have it looked over by an expert first (an independent garage would be fine). Does anyone know of a VX specialist garage in the area? The local vauxhall garage doesn't seem to do them...

Thanks in advance!

I tried finding someone up near there as I bought mine in Chester but I couldnt find anyone.

In the end I got it done by the RAC.

Not ideal for a specialist motor but the standard stuff they are very good at and will know if its been sprayed or repaired etc.

Thanks, I think that's what I'm going to have to do, they're not the cheapest though, they just quoted me 260 quid!

Better safe than sorry I guess...

£260???

Mine was £206

Its a 2.0 remember, unless the cost of inspections has gone up massively...

I think that was with all the bells and whistles, including the HPI. Also, I'm not an RAC member.

Nor am I and this was only a month ago.

The comprehensive test was £206 and this was with a full HPI etc.

Unless there is one above that.

Just checked.

Essentials plus, 1.5 - 2 litres £205.95

Thats exactly what I paid, I would be having a word...

Cheers, I'll make sure I don't pay a penny more when I book it!

Have you asked on vx220.org.uk?

You may well get an experienced owner to come and take a look at it, which is probably about as much use as an RAC inspection.

That's what I did when I bought mine.
