Hi everybody:
Just acquired a Seat Leon ST, and would like to know any special procedure for using the clucth. A friend engineer in car business alert me to not use the clutch as I was doing in my gasoline (not diesel) Volvo S40 for the past 16 years, unless it will affect the actual kind of clutch.
Thanks a lot.

I really don't understand what you mean?

You change gear like any other manual car.

Was advised to avoid overuse of the clutch like when in traffic and climbing a steep street, for example.
It´s a bit difficult for me to explain. English isn´t my mother language.
Anyway thanks for your message.

I think your mates talking crap. Never heard anyone driving a petrol differently to a Diesel regarding the clutch.

Good car BTW we have one returns some impressive MPG and a nice little estate so practical too.

You will use the clutch when you need to, just like any other car.

You will probably use the clutch more as diesel engines have a narrower powerband.

Does the petrol version have a DMF ? If not is he maybe saying to not ride or slip the clutch so much' or allow to labour a low revs in the wrong gear, in the diesel, all of which can play havoc with the DMF.

Quite the opposite with this engine, and most others I've owned. My Toledo 1.6tdi will do most things in 3rd and 4th, pulling from 20 to 100mph. In most petrols I've had, you'd have made a trillion gear changes in the same conditions.

Hi everybody:
For all I am concerned, and with your advices I´m more relaxed. Using neutral gear position and hand brake when stopping in climbing streets and lower the gears progressively when reducing and never skipping a lower position as the manual stated.
Thanks
