Too cold!

lol this morning was the coldest Ive ridden in a while, my nose really hurt for the first 2 miles, never had that before, otherwise enjoyed it until I stopped to take a pic then got cold!

The last third of my bottle froze over this morning.

Was blooming cold on the ride to work. My feet were really painful for the last 6 or 7 miles

I've got a horrible feeling its going to be even colder on the way home tonight in the dark

The problem with stopping now, it will mean that the bike will go in the shed for the winter. If i am not prepared to ride in the cold then i can not justify a new bike!

My nose was a bit cold when I first set off but I pulled my buff up a bit, no idea what the temp was at 06:30.

Decent gloves, overshoes, hat, tights and windproof jersey with a base layer will see you right over winter.

It was -6 on my commute - for the first 10 minutes at the office my chillblained fingers were screaming at me!

And whilst I was desperate to take a pic of the stunning frosty sunrise, the thought of (a) stopping to get my phone from my rucksack, and (b) taking my gloves off to take the photo, made me chicken out.

I seem to be able to get away with fairly normal gear in the cold. The upside of more watts

More "watts", you say? My ride takes me past the Watts Gallery on the way into Guildford. But my actual watts are nothing more than wishful.

Ha, agree - but the middle of the park is usually 3 deg colder than outside.

Hardly ever get a frost down here and work from home so don't even need to get up.
Tomorrow I'm off at dawn to meet a few mates for a proper frosty off road loop

My Garmin recorded -4.3 this morning.


Feet & body was fine, just my fingers that were frozen.


Brought the firms van home tonight
