Should I negotiate more?

I received a job offer last week, and offer was what I was expecting. I asked the HR team if there is any room for negotiation as I have another offer on table. Company has come back with higher offer and I have been thinking about accepting it.

Don’t want to be sound greedy, I am wondering if it’s worth negotiating more?

Can company withdraw the offer if i negotiate more? they might think i am more interested in money than a company.

I have not accepted any offer yet.

Having been on both ends, you can negotiate for as long as you want but don't mess people about.

i.e don't accept an offer, then go back and ask for more afterwards.

If you're going back to a company asking them to improve their offer, they'll likely realise they're in a bidding war and ask you what figure you want that will get you to accept.
This shuts down bidding and forces you to give a figure that you can't then go back on.

Make that figure enough for you to do the job comfortably and worth your while, but don't take the urine.

Remember, money is a short-term motivator.

I wish I had have negotiated when I took my current job on.

As said, answer is always no if you don't ask.

as a boss if ive already made an offer which you turned down, then upped my offer and still then you came back to ask for even more I would say greedy bugger - the upped offer would have been pretty much the max I would want to pay out for an exceptional e/ee with no track record with me. Did they approach you or you apply to them?

You may well do better to suggest an increase after say 6 mths provided you achieve x y or z which will benefit me as the boss. I would still think a bit cheeky but give you a chance to see if you could. If you come back with simply I want more then It would negatively impact my view on employing you.

I agree with this. Some exceptional candidates I have gone beyond the original offer for and it's perfectly legitimate for people to ask for the number that they think they deserve.

Asking for a higher number again, after a first increase was given, would ring alarm bells with me as it would start to suggest someone was only in it for the money.

I would say you were hoping for X.

Eg if you are offered 46 but you want 50 say you propose 46 start rising to 50 after 6 months
