Which celebrities have gained the most fame for the least talent?

I'd nominate Liz Hurley. An actress who became a star not through her acting, but purely through the dress she wore for the premiere of a film she wasn't even in.

Also Simon Cowell. Having no apparent talent himself, he's gained fame and fortune on the back of other people who invariably aren't talented either.

That's quite impressive, isn't it? Produced something greater than the sum of its parts, seemingly deliberately.

As nice as she seems, he's done more than Scarlett from Gogglebox. I've never noted much of substance in Alan Sugar who seems to have blundered his way to some success and much failure.

Ed Balls? Almost anyone on Strictly or I'm a "celebrity", honest I am.

I would actually say Simon Cowell is very talented at what he's doing. He creates huge worth from not very talented musicians, and he does it time and time again. he is a very ruthless businessman.He gained his fortune before his fame.

I dislike him as a person, but I wouldn't say he's a lacks talent as a businessman.

This is a really good thread.

I'd be tempted to say Kardashians but you have to say the way they have monetised their absolute lack of talent, displays talent in itself. So you have to at least respect that, even if you do think they are vacuous narcissistic twunts (which, for the avoidance of doubt, I do).

For me I'd say some of the Towie shower of st. I don't know their names (obviously lolllll!) apart from the Joey Essex who I've seen on Celebrity Juice.

When you say "new" what part of her is the newest?

I find it odd when people point out that slebs like Price and Beckham must be smart because they've made so much money, but have people never heard of managers and agents? They're the ones who "make" the money for otherwise thick people. Do you really think VB designed the interior of the Evoque, or that KP wrote those trashy novels? Joey Essex (who I actually like - he's a well-meaning simpleton) gets famous because his agent gets him on the right shows at the right time.
