What Car (£6K hatch or similar)

My current car is ready to give up. Can’t complain as I only paid £900 5 years ago but I want something that I can rely on a little more.
I don’t do a lot of miles and have a bike for fun, so I don’t need anything special. I just need something with a minimum of 4 seats and that can carry a mountain bike in/on. I like a hatch as sometimes throwing a bike in the boot is easy but normally I tend to use a tow bar rack when carrying more than 1.

Looking to spend £6K max. Mk6 golf is first choice at the minute but am I missing something? Golfs seem expensive and I’ve seen a few 1 series for less money at a similar spec.

I like the megane. Never noticed one before.
Not sure admit the ST. Always thought they were more for the younger man.

I'd love another fast car but struggle to see the point. The way traffic is these days i hate driving and I consider them pointless and I'd much sooner get the motorbike out of I wanted to play.

I like the higher spec 1 series. Guess I need to think if I need a 130 though.

Mine carries bikes with the tow bar, sounds awesome and is officially 'better than an M3. Nothing at this price is as much fun.

5 door civic 06 onwards, rear seats lower bench flips up and leaves a perfect space to put a bike in.

If you are looking at Golfs, Check out the Seat Leon (FR or Cupra for sporty ones) or Skoda Octavia (again VRS for sporty). They are same chassis and engines as the golf GTIs but with lower pricetags.

Apologies, didn't know there was a "car buying" sub group.

Just had a look at the Octavia's, seem to be a good bargain option.

This caught my eye and is very local
