Following on from my search for a Soundabase for my wife and I (I'm arranging a test of two shortly) I'm now on the lookout for a DVD player for sons bedroom.
Now whilst it's a player he's after I was wondering about something he could also play his videos that he makes on his video camera and edit out the bits he doesn't want. (I ask this as the Sony programme that he's supposed to use won't download successfully).
I have an old Sony DVD player/recorder with hard drive that I can do this on but it's slow and a bit clunky.
Cost and quality the mean guidelines

Which Sony program is he having issues with?

I've used Sony Vegas Studio in the past and it's always worked flawlessly.

It would appear that it's now known as VEGAS Movie Studio as the product has been sold on.

It's $49 --> here

EDIT: If you still want a DVD player / recorder, I have a practically unused Samsung DVD recorder here - you can have it for the price of postage if you want it.

Or if you're near Leeds you could collect it.

It's this one:

Hi Tony
it's the Sony Playmemories programme that you download from Sony website so you can edit stuff off a handycam.
Tried both at home last week (now have high speed fibre since two days ago so could try again) and at work.
Both times it crashes out, fails to download or whatever and comes up with an excuse line.

I posted in Gadgets a couple of weeks ago about it but been overtaken by events over the last fortnight.

Is that programme you use ok with Handycam stuff

ps I'm not that far from Leeds so may well take you up on your offer...

Regards
Tony H

No problem, just PM me (and alert me to the fact here) if you want it.

It's not HD btw, it has SCART inputs / outputs only.

It does have composite video in along with the usual audio in.

I bought it several years ago, transferred a couple of VHS tapes to DVD and then it went into storage.

I believe I still have the remote control for it as well.

It's a DVD-R119

If you can collect it - yours for free.
