New Car! 2016 Focus Zetec Ecoboost

So here she is, a Ford Focus Zetec with the 1.0 Ecoboost (125ps) and 6 speed manual.

Options include active parking assist (read: self-park), lane keeping assist and new Apple CarPlay head unit.

Engine is an absolute treat, very rev happy and smooth with a tuneful thrum.

Colour is also lovely - was unsure when decision to go for candy red was made but now it's arrived, I'm thrilled.

Anyone wanna know anything?

Ex wife had this engine in a fiesta with the zetec s body kit and 18 inch sport alloys.

Not sure how quick it will be in the heavier focus but it felt rapid in the fezza and was probably the most fun car I've ever driven. No turbo lag either.

I've driven that car - a fiesta with the same engine - fiesta feels more agile but only marginally more rapid. Focus makes up for it with much comfier cruising manners (quieter and better ride). They're both cracking little cars!

Had a pre FL wagon in the same colour, Candy Red really is the way to go.

Engine wise ive not driven the small ecoboost, but i did putter around in a fiesta powered by the NA 1.0 lump, and while power obviously was nowhere to be found, i was pleasantly surprised by how smooth that little 3 pot runs.

Looks stunning, I have 2014 Candy Red Focus Titanium, also with the 1.0 125ps Ecoboost. Brilliant little engine, does everything I want it to, and has plenty of power for me seeing it's my first car!

Candy Red is a stunning colour and I love it, I knew when I decided on a Focus it had to be in that colour.

There's a thread of mine on here somewhere, although I've changed the wheels since then.

Haha agreed - it (perhaps surprising to some) feels like a well matched car and powetrain. Focus remains a great chassis with an eager front end and accurate steering.

I like the interior - crap plastics lower down in the cabin but all visible bits of trim are soft touch and I particularly like the faux-leather wheel. Not totally sold on Apple CarPlay yet but Sync 3 is miles ahead of Sync 2.

Plus, 38-40mpg is a nice bonus!

I must have driven the ex wife's car like a tool, cause she only ever got about 36mpg out of it tank to tank. Well probably about 38 on average. If you just took my driving then probably more like 28mpg.

Mines averaging about 44mpg. That's mainly short journies (albeit on A roads) of 6 miles a day. Weekends sometimes have a 50 mile round trip on motorway. I don't rag the engine apart from in first as there is quite a bit of turbo lag...

Mines done 13.5k miles.

I drive mine quite enthusiastically - with experience of previous Focuses with the same engine, 40ish MPG on motorway runs and 30-35 MPG in town is realistic. Inevitably, I've never seen anything close to the 60.1(!) MPG claimed by Ford.
