If he sets up camp near you.
Nothing to do with me, I just saw the link being circulated on Farcebook. I think as people who weld up old cars properly get less and less and more are jumping on the Classic bandwagon, maybe the owners are getting desperate and careless.

The usual caveat emptor applies. I can't understand why someone would pay that kind of figure (£63k claimed in the ad, but I'm sure they must be a digit out!?) up front without keeping a close eye on progress. Either they're very foolish or this smells fishy to me...

Perhaps that figure is a total from 'all' customers? Who knows?
I just looked to see what the ebayer who put this up has for sale...

Really?
A Escort van gutted, no V5 no bonnett (his spelling!), no screen etc ... is worth 4 grand! Jeezus, have I missed out somewhere?

Just up the road from me, think the Police are involved and there were about 10 cars to be collected if you could prove they were yours.

Yeah that was taken from several customers, but when someone asks for money up front it's usually a bad sign and time to walk away.

Back in the last boom I discussed an ongoing restoration with someone and smelt a rat. I looked at the monthly bills and when I had finished totaling it up he had paid for nearly a hundredweight of filler! The "restorer"refused to give the car back and my friend had to send some heavies in to get it back. Thankfully no longer in business that bunch.
