What is the 'SP'?

When someone says "what's the SP on this?" - what exactly does the 'SP' stand for or mean?

In posts people sometimes put (sp) in brackets if they are not sure of the spelling of a particular word.

At the track they would look at the boards with the current odds and ask what the SP was.

That would tell them the original start & so they could work out how things have changed to get to the current state of play.

Sorry to contradict you, but in military speak it is normally "SOP" - Standard operating procedure.
