I accidentally shorted the tail light and now the passenger side tail and side lights are not working. I get a beep on the dash and a crossed through bulb.

Googling has revealed that there is no fuse, and I have likely blown the switch. Replacement ordered, is this the right answer to my problem?

Try disconnecting the battery for 5mins and reconnecting to reset the circuit.

The module modules the current and if it exceeds a specific value it will shut the circuit down and not power it back up again until it's reset either by VCDS or a power cycle.

Thanks I ran vag-com on the car and no faults show, will give that a go. Cheers!
