Some time back I set up a continuous entry to a lottery operated by a Children's Hospice
It is £1 a week and there is £1200 in prize money each week: 1 x £1k, 1 x £100 and 10 x £10
In a recent draw, I have won the £1k and a cheque has arrived
Is there some generally accepted etiquette about what to do with such a prize?
I have already made my mind up what to do with the money, but what would you do?

A few years ago I won a Toshiba TV, video and cinema sound system. I made a donation to a childrens charity that pays for a special day out for deprived children. Firstly I was very pleased to be able to spread my good fortune around a little, more good fortune came to me within a month.

Well, I do similar with local pet rescues and so on. Because you are "giving" them the money.
I think the point is you can just give them money, and the money you give would go straight to them, without some being used to pay out etc. So it you want to donate, donate, but if you want to donate and possible win something then you play the lottery. if you want to give it back then that would be up to you.
Is this a hospice, as in a place where (presumably terminally ill kids?) go to live out their final days?
Man, must be a sad place to think about...
Anyway, do as you like with it mate, as others have said, the lottery presumably is there to raise funds, so the hospice take their cut. If you want to be charitable, give some/all back, if not, treat yourself to something you would never buy in normal circumstance.
