Concorde inflight document pack

Hi All

My grandmother died a few weeks back and we have been clearing the house. One the things we found is a BA Concorde document wallet that has never been opened. My grandfather used to fly on Concorde regularly and obviously kept it as a memento. I have no idea whats in it and have no intention of opening it.

Is it worth anything? Anyone know what may be lurking inside?

I would want to open it just too see what was in it. And then I would instantly regret it.

My parents flew on Concorde a few times & I know they have a lot of Concorde odds & sods so when I speak to them later today I will ask them if they ever had one.

It may be but I think its a lot older than that. He died in 1996 and hadn't flown on her for quite a while as he had retired from Raleigh in the late 80's who paid for the travel.

I've just given it a gentle shake. Its got a Navy blue leather strap with holes in it (luggage tag strap?) and a sealed white envelope among other things inside.

I might try prising a corner of that sticky label off with a knifepoint and seeing if it would remove/replace without damage.

The ones we had from a flight sometime in the late 90's is later than the OPs but I suspect contents is similar:

Concorde branded writing paper, envelopes, little notebook and postcards (so you can write to all your friends and show off).

A blank 'flight certificate' you could get the Captain to sign to prove you've been on it.

A Concorde pen and keyring.

Looking at the pictures on the wallet, it seems to me to be from the very earliest period of BA Concorde operation. The original colour scheme carried by BA Concordes (1976 to 1980) was this -



BA dropped the "airways" for a while (God knows why) -



The next scheme was carried from around 1984 to 1997 or so -

It does look like an early one I agree.

It IS an early one.

For all you know it could date back to the commencement of operations in 19876 - so it might have some additional value, especially amongst Concorde afficianodos.

You might want to try contacting the British Airways Heritage Centre as they will be able to let you know what it actually is.

Which was, IMO, the best.

There were a few "non-standard" schemes worn at various times -





Sadly, Concorde never operated any revenue services in this older Air France livery. This was one of the development aircraft.

I'd always thought there was a braniff livery Concorde but the photos were just artist impressions. I didn't realise they had trained Concorde crews.

Ditto BOAC livery, would have been the most flattering of all IMHO.

As imagined in Airfix's first Concorde kit - released around 1970 -



They also released an Air France version -



It's a pity the real thing never got to fly in the BOAC livery - although the registrations they carried (and still do) showed who they were originally supposed to go to.
