Cracked ribs??

Playing football yesterday and some one comes right through back of me - although I didn't see it it felt like a knee to the back/side.
The initial pain was in my back. The pain is in my right hand side, if I reach around with my left arm my fingers touch the sensitive area, I'd say its about 6 to 8 inches under my armpit.
I struggled to be able to catch my breath afterwards, the pain is uncomfortable when I move in certain ways but I slept ok last night (after drinking in afternoon)
I've had broken ribs before a few of times and the sharp pain you get when you cough etc, this feels similar but not quite as intense.
I would say its ribs but it seems a long way round (not on the front of my chest) I also didn't (or don't recall that crunch sensation when ribs go sometimes)
Any thoughts?

Cracked ribs will without doubt hurt like hell no matter what! Breathing, talking, sneezing, laying down! if they are cracked you will know about it.
Absolutely know about it, took me about 2 min to get out of my car this morning! I would absolutely say they're cracked - its just the location that I can't quite work out!?!Gooner1 - I will have a read up about that - hopefully its not though!
I would get yourself checked out for pneumothorax. I've x-rayed a few people who have left it a day of two after being injured and they have a punctured lung.
Whether the ribs are cracked or not is almost irrelevant really, there's nothing you can do to stop them hurting/heal more quickly. As for location - remember most of your ribs wrap around from your spine to your sternum, and they can let go anywhere.

No updates for 5 days, do you think he's having a lie down courtesy of the NHS.
Having had 3 pneumothorax'es the symptoms sound familiar although I found being short of breath and the pain in my back a reason to visit the doctor sooner rather than later.
The first time I got up one morning and it hit me straight away, having no idea what was wrong I went to work thinking I'd feel better later, I didn't so went to see the Doctor, after getting his mate in for a second opinion he asked me how I'd got to the surgery,
And I will never forget this...
By car I said,
Are you in the car park?
Err, Yes, Why?
Well it should be okay there overnight, we've just rang for an Ambulance, you need to go to Hospital, you have a pneumothorax and need emercency treatment..
Oh! I said..
I was about 30 at the time and had never spent a night in hospital before so was nervous to say the least.
Fortunately the pain of the huge needle being pushed up your chest fades away very quickly once you start filling the bottle with bubbles..
