Evening gents,
not sure which part of the forum to stick this on as ive seen these wheels are on a V8S & early Chimaeras..
I have got some 'oz vega' split rims that need a serious refurb. The bolts are going rusty & outer rims are in a state, before ordering on impulse (and getting it wrong as usual) I thought id see if anyone has refurbed theres & know what size studs around the rim i need.
Ive got new centre badges already & considering doing a 'hyper silver' powdercoat all over? idea

I was looking at these on ebay, it states for oz split rims but also bbs so im a little unsure if the sizing is right?

Did mine about 3 years ago, bolts are M7 x 24. I went for A4 stainless in grade 10.9 rather than chrome plated.

I had the centres done in standard silver with 'chrome powder coat' on the rims. Most people are amazed when I tell them the rims aren't polished. Whilst it does make them a tad easier to look after, if going through the exercise again I think I'd have the lips polished instead for just that extra little bit of sparkle.

Thanks for the reply Tim, appreciated. Don't suppose you remember where you got your bolts from?
Yeah im 50/50 woth outer rim, eventually polished an laquered theyll end up like my oz 8 spokes did on the 'S' frown
Do you have any pics of yours would love to see them.

Cheers

Online shop

Ive bought from these for years and they are very good, cheaper than ebay also. M7x32 should be fine. Remember that OZ has a special tool that only they use for screwing rims, it has 10 notches instead of the normal 12. Chrome bolts are cheaper and work fine, though stainless lasts longer.

Probably best to let a specialist do the refurb... they need to be glued after refurb as well, to stay airtight

Also, when youre in for a refurb, you could just order 4 new outer rings which you could specify wider. Maybe 7,5 front and 8,5 rear would be cool smile ?

I bought the bolts from a place in Germany (the only place I could find them at the time), I think these are the ones:

I don't have any close up pics with me at the mo but this should give you an idea...

Laser Tools have the correct sockets for undoing and refitting the original 10 point OZ bolts and nuts.

They look great, i cant tell the difference as the outer rim looks polished from here.
Thanks for all the advice gents, blimey didn't realise they'd cost so much to refurb eek the stainless bolts alone are more than what i paid for my 8 spokes to get powder coated in shadow chrome.

Maybe i should of swapped them for esoterils rolleyes

It's worth it. A (near-) mint set of OZ split rims is easily into four figures now.

(Still looking for a 16" rear wheel to complete a set to refurbish) smile

eek four figures! I think i should persevere then & await Ted DiBiase with his suitcase of money laugh
Would you recommend keeping them stock finish (silver centre & polished outer rim?) Im really considering powdercoating the whole wheel in hyper silver but not 100% sure.

Also just came across the stainless bolts on ebay for £70! Waiting to hear off the seller if there high tensile or not

If you want them to keep their value, the standard polished rims would be my choice - even if they're a pain to maintain because at some point, the clearcoat will lift again....

Just a heads up for anyone replacing the split rim bolts, ive came across a place called 'srrhardware' that do forged stainless steel (equivalent to 10.9 tensile ) 120 of them for £86 which is half the price of the other site mentioned.

I haven't got the wheels infront of me so cant check this so im not sure which m7 nuts i need, theres normal ones or serrated?

I've used SRR on my BMW BBS wheels , very good to deal with.
They were the only people I could find supplying tapper bolts with no head , so no socket required , so the chrome doesn't get damaged.

Just about to order my bolts from there now.

So ive made my decision & keeping the oz vegas now, just dropped them off to my wheel place.. For maintenance reasons & the car being kept outdoors (for now) ive gone with full powdercoat, silver inserts & flash chrome outer rims
