Party at a friends house. This is the first year they are doing it. In the past I've done the visiting duties during the day, but I've always been glad to get home early evening, light the log burner and open a nice bottle of red in front of the TV.

Home with parents and siblings.

I would rather avoid the whole week and go skiing, in truth.

Plenty of people in this situation, there's normally half a dozen of us head out for lunch as we are this year (not all singles, some child free couples). My folks clear off to Gran Canaria for a fortnight which suits everyone and we have a jolly old time in the restaurant then back round to someone's for cheese, port and games.

I asked for a girl for Christmas (on the 'What do you want for Christmas' thread) and blow me down I've only gone and got one.

Haven't met yet so if it doesn't pan out I'm gonna play golf and paint my living room

Round at the parents for lunch/tea so that is the middle part of the day. Me and the cats for the rest of it.

Apart from being slightly quite it's going to be like most Sundays I imagine. Might get up early and go for a drive though, such a great day for that.

I think this is my 3rd proper Christmas being single and so far I'm happier than most of them when I was with the ex. Last year maybe doesn't count though because I was ill and spent the day in bed!

Id suggest that "got one" and "haven't met yet" are the preserve of mail order brides hehe

Ref the above post. I haven't been in a relationship at Christmas for ages. So I strangely don't miss it, I see friends having to troupe round various outlaws and outlaw grandparents and extended families and just think. What a load of extra cost!

But as a full on Bah Humug, I won't be doing any decorations at my place. Do plan to visit my parents on the day. I'm effectively broke at the moment (no I didn't piss it all away. Chance would be a fine thing!) But I need to get and give them both something small obviously smile

ETA

Last year went for a run round Richmond Park. Year before did a 60odd KM bike ride. Undecided at the moment on this years activity. There are a few early morning swims going on. Though I haven't swum for 18 months laugh

Hope for good weather and go out for a drive, for my choice that's down to the jurassic coast somewhere; long walk over a headland, enjoy a peaceful day, meet a surprising amount of cheerful people to talk to also just doing their own thing.

Stick the roast in oven on your return and catchup with everyone via skype/facetime while cooking.

I did this a couple of years ago - my first Christmas day spent alone to date - and it was excellent! Took the Fury down to Portland Bill over delightfully quiet roads and stopped for the long walk on Chesil beach, 180miles at c.-2DegC in an open unheated car builds a great appetite!

I did have intentions of flying off somewhere for Christmas/New Year but the RTA a few weeks ago put paid to that.

Huff, pick me up on your way to the coast if you are going down! biggrin

I think Tooting Bec Lido has an early morning Xmas day non wetsuit swim, but you may need to be a SLSC member. Personally I'd rather do a running lap of Richmond Park *and* a 60km ride than a length of the lido in winter. Although they may do widths if it's really cold.

Go for dinner at the parents, stay there for a while probably. Unless my niece is there, I will be home by 11am! I just cannot cope with all the cooing over a baby! It does my head in.

Going for a drive sounds a good plan. Living on the Welsh border has its advantages. So either that or back home doing what I do every Sunday. Watch babestation.hehe

My gym is open on Xmas Day. Awesome! biggrin

No family to visit, so a quiet evening watching a film or something, nice food and a bottle to go with. . .

Aw mate. I feel bad for you. We're doing a joint Christmas this year for the first time. That means me, the GF, her 4 kids, her mum and dad, my mum and my brother all gathered around the table, together, in the same room, with alcohol, for the first time ever.

I'll be thinking about you. Will you spare a thought for me?

I think I'd be trying to find a way of suffering from some sudden illness that might leave me.. well anywhere else would serve, dead might be preferable.

In any event, my condolences.

Before I was married it was an easy one for me - I volunteered to work every single Christmas Day

And these days you work every single Christmas day, but you don't get to volunteer, and you don't get paid for it.
