I enjoy Christmas day itself - watching our children open the presents, seeing the family all together etc. That's about it though.

I hate the build up - everywhere is busy, post always late, pressure to buy lot's of gifts.

Also until the new year then hardly any shops or garages are open if I wanted to do something car related. Everyone is on the road, traffic st, everyone is out shopping...

I honestly can't wait until we are in the New Year and things can get back to normal. Wife thinks I'm a right miserable scrooge and no doubt many on here reading this thread. That said there must be others like me?

Anyone feel the same?

Christmas largely passes me by. The traffic leading up is a bit of a pain, but I like a bit of time away from work, and, of course, after the 21st the days are getting longer again, so that's nice.

I'm not really a celebrant though, although I wouldn't seek to piss on the chips of those who are. Different drums...

Agree OP. I don't like it much, but I always book two weeks off for it, mainly because of the traffic issue (I travel a lot with work). People hit the motorways over the festive period when they don't usually use them, and it shows.

It's a lot of fuss about not very much IMO. I always look forward to getting back to normal afterwards, and thinking about summer holidays/festivals etc.

On the contrary - the last week or so of commuting has been awesome - the roads have been really quiet - much quieter than normal.

Actually, it wont arrive at all as they are going on strike.

Merry Christmas.

2 weeks off work, gluttony, and empty roads if you know where to look, when. The last few years were 2-3 hr hoons from 5-8 AM on Christmas day, back for brekkie and then the Christmas stuff.

The hype and the crowded high street pisses me off, but that's par for the course most of the year anyway. Look for the positives.

I'd be for a rule that outlawed the giving of presents to anyone over the age of 14, possibly with the exception of your significant other.

Huge reduction in stress and a lot less pointless tat to hide in the back of a cupboard or throw away. And as most kids over about 10 seem to prefer cash, that makes it even easier.

Otherwise- OK really.

I enjoy it(& the build up), because I find people actively try to not be a .

That for me is good enough.

Perhaps they could do that for the rest of the year?

It won't happen, you & I both know it. Which is why I enjoy seeing it at Christmas.

No doubt accompanied by a report in the Daily Mail decrying how they're extremely bad for your 'elf.

Thought this Xmas was going to be a bit meh , but within a few days everything has changed . Found myself with 12 days off now so we're going to Banff skiing for a few days , back to work on 21st until Xmas Eve , then kids and their partners announced yesterday that they're all off work and they'll be coming to ours for the 25th . So house full and a good time should be the order of the day .
Plus we're guaranteed a white Christmas .

I just need it all to bugger off and for January to do the same thing as well. shoot

Working pretty much all of Christmas and new year as I've been silly by dipping into my savings buying a car I couldn't afford to buy but equally couldn't afford to miss out on whilst also having 1 of my other cars booked in for major body & paintwork straight after Christmas which my now non-existant savings is supposed to pay for.

Which is why I'm being a grumpy money grabbing overtime wh0re over the festive period
