Typical discount on new V12S
Discussion
Are you talking about an existing dealer stock car or speccing one up from new to your own requirements? Stock cars will always come with a much bigger potential for discounting and in theory at least there should be more discount available on a SSIII car as these are less limited in production numbers than the Manuals are supposed to be.
For sure there will be at least some movement in any scenario.

Manual is a no cost option on the V12VS and therefore not more limited in production than the same car equipped with SportshiftIII.I don't think the choice of gearbox will have any effect on discount.

However I am aware that AM have a habit of changing their stance on such things, hence I said "are supposed to be"...

So then, we all know that there are great deals out there for serious buyers and that there are better deals on dealer stock than factory orders.
However, does anyone know whether this is purely down to dealers not wanting to offer the same discount on a factory order, or are there other factors which mean a dealer can't offer the same % on a forward order vs stock car ?
Basically, does a dealer have the ability (margin) to offer the same discount on a forward order if they wanted to ?

I suspect the reason why stock cars attract a bigger discount is that the dealer starts incurring stocking costs after a while ..
I'm sure, however I was just wondered whether they have the ability to offer the same level of discount, or whether there are some voodoo accounting rules which mean they're able to offer stock cars for bigger discounts and still make money. From a dealers perspective, there's a lot of difference between the two - it's not just stocking cash flow issues - there may well be incentives to order and take 'rolling' production vehicles that don't exist for a 'custom' spec. Dealers almost always stay 'safe ' on stock specs (hence no Lightweight seats, stay with normal colours etc) whereas to-spec builds might vear well off- piste and could take ages up move of not taken.
You'll struggle to get much on the way of to- spec build discounts - usually need some level of past history with them. There should be a few % available but prob not more than 5.

When seeing 30th September as a date of first registration, it will usually indicate that the car has been registered as a dealer owned car.
Obviously a private buyer would wait one day and save a months tax.
I presume that this tactic must be a way of triggering some sort if sales bonus from AML. On the last day of the month, the dealer will know if they are say one car short of a target.
We have never had an 'insider' explain all this, but I know there are sometimes better end of month discounts.
