Hi All

I posted this yesterday on the 'general' board but I think it should have been here.

Oops - rookie error!

Anyway, I have a 2003 996 C4 Cab.

It has manual seats - not liking and not comfy.

I have a plan - but will it work?

Here is what I want:

Electric up, down, forward, back, rake AND seat base tilt.

I have found used seats that do all of this. If I just swap out will they work?
Is the car pre-wired for this?
Will I get lights come on the dash (as with BMW, Audi et al) ?

Also, the seats are grey so I need to know who can 'skin' my existing Metrolole seats and recover the others.

Is there help out there????

Thanks in advance

Andrew

If you look under the current seats, you will be able to see if there's wiring.

Might be worth lifting one out to help with that.

Hi

I should have said there is an electric rake on the seat

So there is power but does Porsche put Omni connectors on or are they different depending on which seats you have?

I am fully aware of the cost reduction techniques being used at that time so logic says just one connector for all - BUT logic sometimes does not come in to 996 stuff

I went the other way on my 996-4S, it had factory comfort memory seats, electric everything, but not heated, I kept sliding out of them so I swapped for some 996 Sports seats I bought.

They used the same connector block as the car loom, the only difference was the red power in port in the socket was in a different place, so we just pulled those 2 wires from both blocks and connected them up with a single bullet connector.., everything worked fine..

If you want some comfort seats, I might know where some black ones are..!

Hi

Am I right in saying that 'comfort' means the base tilts as well as raises and lowers?

The memory comfort seats are fully motorised rake +for/aft +base tilt, pretty sure they are motorised for height too, some are also heated.., non memory seats were manual for forward/backwards.

Sports seats have a deeper base, deeper side bolsters with 'ears' near your shoulders and pinch you in better.., but they have motorised rake only, for/aft + height adjust is manual on a lever..

If someone has what I want - please let me know.

My dream seat is sports (with 'ears') fully electric with height, rake, forward, backward and base tilt - heated - in Metropole Blue

I have been looking in the classifieds for about 6 months and calling every '996 breaking' advert and not got close

I'm pretty sure that fully electric sports seats weren't an option on the 996. You either got the minimally electric sports seats, or fully electric comfort seats (and the basic manual comfort seats, but not on the Turbo).

If you want fully electric sports seats, your best option might be to find a set of 997 Adaptive Sports Seats and retrofit them. It's completely possible with a bit of creativity about the connections, and if you take care with the 997 side airbags which are mounted in the seats rather than the door cards. Plenty of posts on 911uk, Rennlist etc from people who've done this.

That would explain why I can't find any smile

It's the seat base tilt that is the most important part

So - if anyone out there has what I am after - please make yourself known.
