So finally placed a deposit on a lovely, 2008 4.3 V8 manual Vantage from AM / Timeless.

Just sorting out collection at the moment for when I return from Holiday (will post photos then), probably paid too much but it seems nice with FAMSH, although I haven't actually seen it.

http://www.grange.co.uk/used-car-details/aston-mar...

The car is listed as a 4.3 / 380 HP but when I searched the plate for insurance it returned as a N400 and on the HPI report as 399.6 HP and 313 Ft/lb although just Vantage VH2.

I am 99% it is not a N400 but could it have had the available power upgrade and is there any way to tell?

All ready to collect Wednesday!

Congrats by the way. And welcome to day's of sleepless nights counting down the time for collection. I'm in that world right now, having just put a deposit down. Albeit this is my second Vantage however I think I'm worse this time, maybe as I know what to expect smilesmile

I can't wait! I'm on holiday as well at the moment so seeing if someone can collect on my behalf ... At least it'll be there for me when I am back!

Top of engine / air intake is black instead of silver if its had the power upgrade.. If its a N400 will have a map of the 'ring stitched into the armrest - but an AM dealer would know this and advertise it as such.

Collecting it is half the fun! Rocking up at the dealer, trying to spot your car before you've even pulled up. Sitting at the desk finalising the last few bits, then the moment they hand you the key, then sitting in the car, starting it, driving off the forecourt!!! It's even better if the dealer have made a fuss. I bought a Jag XF a few years back, totally unexpectedly when I turned up to pick it up the car was in their showroom, under a cover with a sign saying "Jaguar XF Portfoliio, awaiting collection - Mark Nash" It was awesome, especially when they peeled back the covers.

I'm like a kid before Christmas smile

"Hey Tarquin, that Vantage you sold the other day, do me a favour and lift the bonnet we may have a little problem on our hands. Oh, and the Sales Manager is still on holiday isn't he?? If so, see if we have any bog standard air intake covers!!!"

If only ...

HPI / Insurnace N400 smile
VIN / AM not N400 frown

Never mind, got some lovely N420 goodies on it, Carbon splitter / diffuser, N420 Alloys, Clear Lights w/ Carbon Inlay.

Looks like somebody spent a little bit on it.

Just had its Timless check so new battery, pulley + Auxillary belt ready for collection!

Congrats on purchase

You will love it

I've got a 07 4.3 V8V and it is just a blast even though it's only the 380bhp

They gather speed effortlessly, sound great ( remove fuse 22) and you'll find yourself just looking at it in the garage, as you walk away after parking it and any other time you can

Enjoy

So true! I still do this after more than 3 years of Vantage ownership. Says so much for the brilliance of the original design.

Congratulations buddy!

My first aston was a 4.3 V8 and I loved it. Because you have to work it more - you can spend more time driving it at 9/10th's. The sound is utterly addictive. Stay safe and go easy on those tyres wink

Cheers

Cheers Gents.

Sat in KL at the moment ...

Will post some pictures tomorrow, it will be post 4H drive from down South to lovely N Wales ...

380bhp is enough for now 😁

I think the car has a valve already fitted by AM for the exhaust.

So the car is here ... Will get pictures tomorrow as its filthy at the moment from today's 100 odd miles smile

First impressions;
The noise
Visibility is poor at the front, actually curbed a N420 wheel as I had just switched from my LHD daily to the V8V which is infuriating, parking up too.
Speed seems quicker than it is, which I think is a great positive as you have to work for the speed.
The looks
Carbon stuff
The noise
Sat Nav seems ancient
Can't stop looking at it
