I don't think it is unusual to see four I's to denote four. Clocks that have Roman numerals usually have four I's to balance the face:
Four numbers with I
Four numbers with V
Four numbers with X
I thought it was to balance IIII with VIII on the opposite side. I still don't like when they do it thoughFour numbers with I
Four numbers with V
Four numbers with X

I believe dress sence is closely linked to a persons taste in watches and to pick on Michael again he is a Chino and deck pumps guy, with a pastel shade of shirt finished off with a thick knit jumper tied around his neck - this look = Patek Philippe calatrava every time.

OK, now to find a replacement face, anyone have any suggestions as to where to source one?
Ebay or Omega themselves (expensive).
I think Omega have stopped supplying parts to outsourced specialists.
Sometimes Chrono24 or TZUK can turn up a hard to find part too. But a vintage part is often (much) harder to find for obvious reasons.
Some good info here: http://www.ofrei.com/page_146.html

If you buy a used dial you will need to check carefully that it will fit, including the position of the 2 'feet' which are soldered on to the back. Why don't you just get the existing dial stripped back to the metal and done properly? Companies like C & F Dial Restoration (not a recommendation, just an example) have the correct printing plates for a lot of vintage Omegas according to their website.
Edited to add: those Roman numerals look like they were done by Mary Berry after a few sherries - did you happen to purchase the watch from an ebay seller in India?
