Hi all.

Can an Audi officionado tell me which version of MMI these pics are? It's a RS6 on a 2009 plate. Thanks.

Thanks but I had thought that 3G only arrived in 2009? Which meant that some C6 RS6s must have come with 2G, no?

Picture of the centre console will settle it for sure. (tbh, I think that's 2G, but there's one way to be certain)

From that I can tell you have MMI High, Colour Screen, (probably) Bose, DAB Radio, AMI and possibly TV.

Looks like 2G to me also, had the same unit in the rear of my 2008 S5. Agreed would need centre console photos to say for sure

Looks like my 2G setup.

As said the center console will tell you for sure.

Note the difference in control knobs.

btw, that isn't true.

Anyway, I'm pretty near certain that is a 2G system - I see no SD card slots in the glovebox.

Thanks all for the replies. I've got a photo of the console and it is 2G high with TV.

Will it have an Aux in as standard?

Hi Smiffy, you have a couple of options.

1. swap out the CD changer for the Audi AMI setup

2. use the external AV input via the boot as follows

Total cost of the install was just circa £45

The parts required are as follows

1. Connects2 CT29AU02 lead.
One thing to note is that there was a manufacturing fault with my first lead where the left and right negatives had separate pins when they should be joined giving you 5 pins to plug in.
Installation instructions are here - http://www.connects2downloads.co.uk/c2/files/Insta...
Although my layout looks different it was just a case of removing 3 nuts and 1 bolt and the whole cage lifted and swung into the boot for easy access.

2. Generic CAN-BUS ignition generator as theres no switched live in the boot - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150375318803?_trksid=p20...

3. Ipod to RCA including power lead here - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130733565203?ssPageName=...
You simply need to locate a suitable live and earth point in which to wire the generator in and connect the above lead via the generator so you dont end up with a permanent live.

4. Generic Bluetooth receiver such as - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221402870065?ssPageName=...
This receiver needs a power source as the lead above and negates the need for battery’s. Another thing to note is that the bluetooth receivers voltage requirement needs to match the Ipod output.

All in all a very simple install and works perfectly with my factory fit telephone prep by fading out the music when a call is received and continuing once the call has ended.

That car HAS the Audi AMI setup already - that's the thing next to the CD changer.

Try that first before spending out on anything else, it's a good system.

I wasnt aware you could have both?

If you have the AMI fitted then a simple cable and Tune2Air module would give you Bluetooth connectivity for music streaming.

Absolutely, yes.

It's (slightly) harder work to have both when retrofitting, requires coding to add AMI while retaining CD, so most people just remove the CD Changer and put the AMI in its place.

https://a6retrofit.com/ami-retrofit-audi-music-int... has info.

eta - MMI 2G will accept a std. aux in, matter of buying a cable and a moment's work in the green "hidden" menu, easy to DIY. Personally I'd go for some form of USB in, much nicer functionality that way.
