Here we go...
*** Firstly, this is the worst case scenario, and I hope this isn't your problem at all ***
Does it meet the following criteria:
* It's blue-ish/white-ish smoke (i.e. more dense than petrol vapour), and coming out of your exhaust
* It happens most when you start the car up or pull away from lights, etc.
* You maybe get it worse from one exhaust pipe than the other
* Your car's done in excess of 16,000 miles, but less than 30,000, and hasn't had a rebuild in the last couple of years
* It's using noticeably more than 1 litre of oil per 1000 miles
If the answer is yes to all of those, it COULD need a rebuild for worn valve guides. On a W plate, I'd expect this to happen if it's not had a rebuild (that took care of this too) in the last couple of years.
Alternatively, it could be from over-filling it (but I'm not sure quite how at all!)

damn JSG seems to have a answer for everything...
when i start my car up e.g. this morning, i get quite alot of smoke puffing out of the exhausts like a mini bbq cooking some food - type smoke, but i didnt think this was a problem?
thought it was just normal as when it gets warmed up it starts to go away...
before smoke used to come out just one exhaust on the left and it still does sometimes but i phoned Gatwick TVR up as i think (as far as i can remember) they said that was normal.
oh and about the low oil pressure alarm i think i had that to come up on the lcd but i pressed the button on the right of the lcd to bypass it as i thought it was just a minor tech fault? JSG?

A million answers, and every one of them wrong.

You can easily get water evaporating out when you first start it up; this I wouldn't worry about. If the smoke is oil coloured (you might even be able to smell the oil), then this is something far, far more worrying. Even more worrying is when it starts doing it as you pull away from being parked up (but with the engine running), i.e. from traffic lights. I'd be booking it in for a holiday on the East coast if that happened regularly (assuming we're not just talking over-filling it or something similar here).
and while youre up on the east coast, ill make you all a cup of tea. itll help with the pain of that awful 'they said theyd call by now why havent they called they said theyd call' feeling. though not a lot
