Just wondered what is the chosen fluid these days for the T5 box.
Original stuff is listed as Mobil Atf 220.

The T5 box was designed for ATF so i would stick with that.

I am using Castrol Syntrans (Formally SMX-S). Have been for 8 years now and it gives much smoother gear selections and has caused no issues whatsoever. It even goes into reverse without crunching which can't be said for ATF!

If you do a search online for 'T5 gearbox oil' there are many people on varying forums recommending a proper 75w90 instead of ATF especially if you do trackdays.

Opinions are like assholes though, everyone has one and most of them stink hehe

Thanks all. I guessed a good quality Dexron 3 would be ok as suggested.
Opie recommended one of the slighter more expensive ones but I went for this.
