Opinions on this guys? 911Virgin have an '08 2.7 in and seems really good value. Been hankering after a Cayman for years and I'm really tempted by this one, especially since preventative work has been done.

I wouldn't say it's 'really good value'. The price is a fair dealer price, it looks low but that's just because of the high mileage.

Agree that the higher mileage is the catch but as said above, 10.5k miles a year with history to back it up isn't exactly loads, at least to me anyway!

Cheers for your opinions guys smile

I don't agree....there are lots of badly maintained low mileage examples. Buy on condition, history and dealers who are prepared to put good quality after care behine the sale.

I've also been looking at that. Seems decent value but resale would be limited, although what's the worst loss possible as long as nothing majorly adverse happened during ownership?

The 2.9 is probably the one for me though.

I would buy the OP car purely because it has a 5 speed manual and the seats do not look like a fat person has covered the miles!

I went to look at a 2.9 a few months ago, 1 owner, 40k miles, manual in black. Was priced around 19k I believe. Was pretty disappointed, the bodywork was in a bad way for having so little miles. Also had a list of about 6 MOT advisories that needed sorting. Was a shame as I believe the 2.9 Gen 2 would be the perfect car for me too.

Just going off ads, I'm really struggling to find a better example than this one for around the 14k mark.

Not particularly finding anything to this car but, it has got its first service in 2010, which is like 2 years after the purchase (20k and no oil change?) I know it's official Porsche advice in 2 years service intervals but almost all sport cars need a main service and oil change in the first 5k or in 12 months to keep a healthy engine for the long-span. MOT history is quite clean but I would definitely consider this sort of early maintenance/servicing in the car if I'm looking to keep for a long-time.

Well done mate, enjoy!

I had a 987.1 2.7 Boxster 5 speed manual...then a 2.9 987.2 Cayman with 6 speed......I preferred the 5 speed 2.7!

The 2.7l engine is a sweet engine. The one in my 2002 Boxster has over 307K miles and has been a superb engine. Except for the removal of the passenger side camshaft cover to replace a VarioCam solenoid/actuator the engine has never been opened up.

Mine has the 5-speed manual behind it and that is one sweet transmission. Transmission like the engine is original and that includes the clutch.

Excellent. Didn't want to comment as I haven't finalised business with them yet but I also have a deposit down and so far I've found them very good.

Didn't think it was that expensive compared to others on Ph listings especially considering the work it's had done.

Enjoy.

I'm buying the classic 3.2 Carrera.
Fancied something different. Really Lovely mechanical feel to it.
