Audi A4 1.9tdi sport quattro estate

Hi guys, what with the cold but damp nights I am struggling with the defrost each morning....full window and rear heaters on but , and this is what is confusing me......only getting demisting to passenger side for some reason.... having to "scoop" air by hand from drivers side window vent to clear the screen directly in front of me whilst passenger side (albeit slowly) clears by itself.

I would have thought, having searched a little, that flaps etc would direct air to all the windscreen, but if jammed , not at all? have given the upper dash a few whacks with my fist in case of jammed flaps to no avail

Any advice would be gratefully received

edited to say have removed glovebox, actuator for flap seems dead, so moved lever manually to enable air flow, will have to check if actuator broken or flap arm stiff.
